Using poster paints (bought cheaply at any craft store) working with your kid start to add each single colour in the white areas, using a colour guide, just like a colouring book, it doesn't have to be completed in a day and can be completed over several days or weeks.
Eventually you will end up with a fully coloured superb looking wall art as below:
